Our Early Childhood program stands out as it is located within a Catholic school that serves students through the eighth grade. This environment allows students to engage with older students, participate in mass, and enjoy additional activities.

Transitional KindergartenAt St. Monica Catholic School, we view our Transitional Kindergarten program as a valuable "gift of time" for kids who need an extra year to develop before they jump into kindergarten.
This program is perfect for children who qualify for kindergarten, but aren't quite ready yet. It allows them to grow and enjoy the advantages of a thoughtfully designed environment focused on building the important skills related to academia and social/emotional growth. This aims to help boost their confidence for a successful transition to kindergarten.

ScheduleSchedules are half days from 7:50 to 11 AM.
- Three-year-old's attend two half days: Mon and Tues
- Four-year-old's attend three half days: Wed, Thurs, Fri
- Five-year-old's* attend five half days: Mon thru Fri
* If your child is five by Sept. 1st of the enrollment year or older 4s who are ready for the challenge.
If your child needs care after preschool, you can join us with our extended care hours and our Kids Klub.

A Family of SchoolsAt St. Monica Catholic School, our preschool is a key part of our school family, supporting students from preschool through eighth grade.
St. Monica is part of a family of schools, along with St. Augustine Cathedral School and Hackett Catholic Prep, known as the Catholic Schools of Greater Kalamazoo (CSGK). CSGK provides a way for each school to be more efficient operationally.

Faith
At our preschool, we’ve made the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program a core element of what we teach. This religious program is all about fostering each child's faith and their bond with Christ.
It’s a great enhancement to our curriculum, which also emphasizes the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual growth of all our students.
Preschoolers have the opportunity to spend time in our Atrium, allowing them moments for quiet reflection and learning about God and their faith.

Apply for Admission
As a member of the Catholic Schools of Greater Kalamazoo (CSGK), all St. Monica students, including preschoolers, follow the enrollment procedures and timing of CSGK.
Enrollment is typically open from January through February.
